pawa is a Discord bot that records voice channels. Pawa Companion is its iOS app: pawa's download links expire after 24 hours, or after 30 days for a server with a subscription, and the app saves a recording to your phone, plays it with a real transport, and transcribes it on-device. The app opens recordings from a pawa link — on its own it has nothing to play.
Ask in the pawa Discord server. That is the fastest route and the one to use for bug reports. If you would rather not use Discord, email [email protected].
New to the bot? Start with the quickstart and the command list.
My recording was deleted.
/stop throws the recording away. Use /save to keep it.
The download link stopped working. Links expire 24 hours after the recording is made, or 30 days after it is made for a server with a subscription, and the audio is deleted with them. Download it, or save it with Pawa Companion, while the link is fresh.
Nothing happens when I open the app. Pawa Companion opens one specific recording. Tap a pawa recording link and it opens there — launched on its own, it has nothing to play.
Transcription says it is unavailable. On-device transcription needs an iPhone with Apple Intelligence, running iOS 26 or later. iOS 26 alone is not enough. Saving and playback still work without it.
The recording will not load. The link has most likely expired — see above. Once it has, the app cannot get the audio back.
Where do saved recordings go? Into the app's own storage on your device, reachable through the Files app. Deleting the app deletes them.
